When you need a 180° turn

A 180° rotation turns an image completely upside down (or back upright). It's the fix for a photo or scan that came out inverted — common with document scanners, screenshots, and images shared through chat apps.

Like a quarter-turn, a 180° rotation is lossless: the pixels are simply flipped end-over-end. The width and height stay the same, so the file fits exactly where the original did.

How to rotate an image 180 degrees

  1. Open your image. Drag it onto the tool, pick a file, or paste it.
  2. Apply 180°. The page opens already set to a 180° turn. You can fine-tune with the other controls if needed.
  3. Download. Save the corrected image in its original format.

180° vs flipping

A 180° rotation is not the same as a flip. Rotating 180° turns the image around its centre (text stays readable but upside down); flipping mirrors it (text becomes backwards). Use rotation to fix an inverted photo, and flip to mirror one.

Is a 180° rotation lossless?

Yes. The pixels are turned end-over-end with no resampling, so there's no quality loss beyond optional re-encoding.

Does the image size change?

No. A 180° turn keeps the same width and height as the original.

Is 180° the same as flipping twice?

Flipping horizontally and then vertically gives the same result as a 180° rotation. The single 180° button is simpler.
