Privacy Policy

Utills (utills.in) provides browser-based tools and practical guides. This policy explains the information used to run the website and the choices available to you.

Files and tool inputs

Our current tools process files and entered content in your browser. Background uploads of original files for auditing are disabled. We do not send file contents, filenames, extracted text, QR contents, hidden messages, passwords, or converter input values to PostHog. Closing the page releases its working session; files you download remain on your device until you delete them.

Some tools download supporting software or language models to your browser, including OCR and background-removal resources. The servers providing those resources receive ordinary network requests, including your IP address. The download request does not include the file being processed. The EXIF map stays disabled until you explicitly choose to load it; loading map tiles shares the approximate photo location with OpenStreetMap. Opening an external map link shares its coordinates with that provider. Follow third-party links only if you choose to use those services; their policies apply there.

Optional usage analytics

We use PostHog to understand which pages and tools are useful, where operations fail, and how visitors move through the site. Analytics starts only after you accept it. Declining does not restrict the tools. You can change your choice using Privacy choices in the footer.

With permission, events include page paths, tool identifiers, interface language, navigation, file counts and sizes, editing actions, downloads initiated, conversion actions, coarse error codes and time spent. PostHog also receives an anonymous browser identifier and basic device/browser information. This can connect visits from the same browser but is not linked to an account or a name. We do not enable session replay, capture arbitrary page text, record keystrokes, or send query strings and URL fragments. We disable IP-based geolocation enrichment; network providers still receive IP addresses when delivering requests.

Analytics is processed by PostHog's US service. We use consent as the basis for optional analytics where data-protection law requires a legal basis. Withdrawing consent stops future collection; it does not automatically erase previously recorded events. Contact us about deletion requests.

Storage on your device

  • Your analytics choice is stored locally so it persists between pages and visits.
  • Saved tool IDs and interface preferences stay in browser storage until you remove them or clear site data.
  • After consent, PostHog uses browser storage for its anonymous identifier and session information. Revoking consent stops tracking and clears SDK persistence.
  • Browsers may cache downloaded tool resources for faster repeat use.

Hosting, security and contact messages

Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. It processes network and request information needed for delivery and security. If you email us, your email address and message are processed to respond to your request. Please do not send sensitive documents unless necessary to resolve your question. Necessary delivery, security and support processing serves our legitimate interest in operating a reliable service.

Advertising and sharing

We currently display no ads and do not load advertising scripts. We do not sell personal information or use tool contents for advertising. If we introduce advertising, we will update this policy and implement any required choices before enabling it. Service providers process information for hosting, analytics and email support; information may also be disclosed when required by law.

Retention and international processing

Tool contents are not retained on our servers by this version of the website. Browser preferences remain until cleared. Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve the request and maintain relevant records. Analytics retention follows the settings of our PostHog project; we do not promise a fixed deletion period that has not been configured. Contact us for current retention details or a deletion request. Providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Applicable provider agreements and transfer safeguards govern that processing.

Your choices and rights

You can decline analytics, withdraw consent at any time, clear local storage, or contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability where applicable. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and complain to your local data-protection authority. We may need enough information to locate a record, but will not ask for unnecessary identity documents. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Children and policy changes

The service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us. We update this page when our practices change; optional processing is not authorized merely by continuing to use the site.
