Why watermark your photos?

Watermarking a photo keeps your credit attached and makes casual copying far less appealing. It's essential for photographers sharing portfolios, sellers posting product shots, and anyone publishing images they'd rather not see reused without attribution.

With this tool you can watermark a photo in seconds — type a line of text or upload a logo, drag it into place, and adjust the opacity, size, and angle. The image is processed in your browser, so the watermarked photo is created on your device.

How to watermark a photo

  1. Open your photo. Drag, paste, or choose a file.
  2. Choose text or logo. Type your watermark text, or upload your logo image.
  3. Adjust it. Set the opacity, size, and rotation until it looks right.
  4. Place it. Drag it anywhere, snap it to the 3×3 grid, or tile it across the photo.
  5. Download. Save as PNG, JPG, or WebP.

Tip: tile it to make it crop-proof

A single watermark in one corner can be cropped away. Turning on Tile repeats your watermark across the whole image, so there's no clean version to lift — ideal for photos you really want to protect.

Photo watermark (text or logo): what this mode does

Adds either a text or a logo watermark to a single photo, with the same drag-to-position, opacity, rotation, and tiling controls in one place.

Controls

Text or logo mode
Switch between typing a text mark and uploading a logo image without leaving the page.
Placement
Use the nine-position grid for a tidy corner or edge mark, or drag the watermark to any custom spot.
Opacity & rotation
Dial the strength from bold to barely-there and angle the mark, including a full diagonal.
Tile
Turn on tiling to repeat the watermark across the whole image with an adjustable gap between copies.

Good for

  • protecting a photo before posting it publicly
  • claiming ownership of an image you share
  • adding a subtle credit to a single shot
  • marking a proof or preview copy

Tips

  • A single mark in one corner is the easiest thing for someone to crop away — if the photo really matters, tile the watermark so there is no clean version to lift.
  • Bottom-right and bottom-centre are the least intrusive placements for a single mark because viewers' eyes rest there last.
  • Match the watermark colour to the photo's tone — light text on dark photos, dark on light — and let opacity, not size, control how subtle it looks.

Where is my image processed?

The watermarking happens in your browser, so the finished image is created on your own device. How any data associated with the tool is handled is described in our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watermark with both text and a logo?

Pick whichever you need — switch the Watermark type between Text and Logo at any time. For most photos a single, clear watermark works best.

Will watermarking change my photo's resolution?

No. The watermark is drawn on top at full resolution; the output keeps the original pixel dimensions.

Is there a limit on how many photos I can watermark?

No. The tool is free and unlimited, and supports batches so you can watermark many photos in one go.
