Protect your photos with a text watermark
A text watermark is the quickest way to label a photo as yours. Whether it's a discreet © Your Name in the corner or a bold repeating pattern across the whole frame, a text watermark deters casual copying and keeps your credit attached wherever the image travels.
This tool adds the text entirely in your browser, so the finished image is created on your own device. Set the font, colour, size, opacity, and rotation, then drag the text anywhere on the preview — what you see is exactly what downloads.
How to add a text watermark
- Open your photo. Drag it in, paste it, or choose a file. Add several to watermark them all at once.
- Type your text. Enter your name, brand, or copyright line, then pick a font and colour.
- Style it. Set the size, opacity, and rotation, and add an outline or shadow so it reads on any background.
- Position it. Use the 3×3 grid, drag it anywhere, or turn on Tile to repeat it across the image.
- Download. Export as PNG, JPG, or WebP — your watermarked photo saves to your device.
Tip: make it readable but subtle
White or black text at around 45–55% opacity with a soft shadow works on almost any photo. For maximum protection, tile the text diagonally — a repeating watermark is far harder to crop or clone out than a single corner mark.
Text watermark: what this mode does
Types your own text — a name, brand, or copyright line — directly onto the photo as vector text rendered on the canvas, so it stays crisp at the full export resolution.
Controls
- Text & font
- Enter any line of text and pick a font; bold and italic toggles change the weight and slant.
- Colour, outline & shadow
- Set the fill colour, add a contrasting outline, and turn on a soft drop shadow so light text stays readable over busy or bright areas.
- Size
- The text height is a fraction of the image's smaller side, so the same setting looks proportional on any photo.
- Opacity & rotation
- Fade the text from solid to faint (default about 55%) and rotate it to any angle, including a diagonal.
- Position or tile
- Snap it to any of nine positions, drag it freely, or tile it to repeat across the whole frame.
Good for
- stamping a © copyright line on photos
- adding your name or handle to share online
- marking a file Draft, Sample, or Confidential
- branding images with a studio or shop name
Tips
- White or black text at roughly 45–55% opacity with the soft shadow on stays legible over almost any photo without hiding the subject.
- For the hardest-to-remove protection, rotate the text and turn on tiling: a repeated diagonal mark has no clean corner to crop off and is tedious to clone out.
- Add the outline when the text sits over a mix of light and dark areas — the contrasting edge keeps every letter readable where a plain fill would disappear.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose the font and colour of the text?
Yes — pick from several font styles, set any colour, and toggle bold, italic, an outline, and a shadow. Everything updates live on the preview.
Can I add a copyright symbol?
Yes. Type © directly (or paste it) into the text box along with your name or year, for example "© 2026 Your Studio".
How do I make the text repeat across the photo?
Turn on "Tile across the whole image". The text repeats in a grid; use rotation for a diagonal pattern and the spacing slider to set the gaps.
