Change the dimensions of a GIF
GIFs are often the wrong size for where you want to use them — too big for a chat, too small for a banner. This tool decodes every frame of your GIF, scales them all to the new dimensions, and re-encodes a fresh animated GIF at the size you choose.
You can type an exact width and height, or lock the aspect ratio so the GIF keeps its proportions. The animation, frame timing, and loop are all preserved.
How to resize a GIF
- Open your GIF. Drag it onto the tool, or choose a file.
- Set the new size. Enter a width and height, or lock the ratio and change just one.

Smaller size, smaller file
Reducing a GIF's width is the most effective way to shrink its file size, because every frame gets fewer pixels. Halving the width can cut the file to roughly a quarter.
