A transparent background lets an image sit cleanly on any colour, pattern, or photo — perfect for logos, stickers, product shots, and overlays. This tool isolates the subject automatically and exports a PNG with real transparency (the checkerboard you see in editors), so there is no white box around your image.
Transparent background: how it works
- What you get
- A true transparent PNG — the subject on a genuinely empty (alpha) background, not a white box. The checkerboard you see in editors is just how transparency is drawn, not part of the file.
- How it runs
- The same in-browser ISNet cut-out isolates the subject, and the result is exported as a PNG because PNG stores an alpha channel. JPG cannot hold transparency — it would fill the empty area with white — which is why the download is always PNG.
Best for
- Logos and icons that must sit on any colour or photo
- Stickers and overlays layered in a design tool
- Product cut-outs reused across many backgrounds
- Watermark-free PNGs for documents and presentations
Practical tip
If you place the PNG somewhere and still see a white rectangle, the destination doesn't support transparency (or re-saved it as JPG) — keep the file as PNG (or WebP) end to end. WebP also supports transparency and is smaller, but PNG is the most universally accepted.
Transparent background — FAQ
How do I make a background transparent?
Upload your image and the subject is cut out automatically. Keep the Transparent mode and download — you get a PNG with a genuinely transparent background.
Why does my JPG still have a white background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so it fills empty areas with white. Always export as PNG (or WebP) to keep the background transparent. This tool exports PNG for exactly that reason.
Will the transparent areas show as a checkerboard?
The checkerboard pattern is just how editors display transparency — it is not part of the file. Placed on a coloured background, the transparent areas let that colour show through.
Is it really free?
Yes — unlimited transparent PNGs, no watermark, no account. The processing runs in your browser.
