A good caption turns a photo into a post: it adds context, a credit, a date, or a punchline. This free tool lets you add a caption to any image and place it exactly where it reads best — across the top, along the bottom, or anywhere you drag it.

Unlike a one-size caption box, every text layer here is fully adjustable: font, size, color, outline, shadow, rotation, and opacity. Add a bold headline and a smaller subtitle, or a semi-transparent credit in the corner. Then download — PNG keeps the text crisp and supports transparency, JPG and WebP keep files small.

How to caption an image

  1. Open your image. Drag a photo in, choose a file, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Type the caption. Enter your caption text in the Text box.
  3. Place it. Drag the caption to the top, bottom, or wherever it fits best.
  4. Style it. Set the font, color, outline, and size so it stands out clearly.
  5. Download. Export as PNG, JPG, or WebP and save it.

How do I add a caption to a photo?

Can I add a semi-transparent caption?

Yes — each text layer has an opacity slider, so you can make a subtle credit line or a bold solid caption.

Can I put a caption bar across the bottom?

Yes. Position a text layer along the bottom; you can also widen its outline or add a shadow so it stays readable over busy images.

Where is my image processed?
