Designing for the X header crop

An X (formerly Twitter) header is 1500×500 pixels — a wide 3:1 banner that sits behind your profile picture. Because the avatar overlaps the lower-left and the profile card covers part of the bottom on some layouts, it's safest to keep key text in the upper or central area.

This maker sizes the canvas to 1500×500 exactly and shows a live preview at that aspect ratio, so you can place your text and background confidently and download a banner that drops straight into your profile settings.

How to make an X header

1. It opens at 1500×500. The X / Twitter header size is preset, so the canvas is the right wide shape.
2. Add your text. Add a headline or tagline. Keep it toward the top or centre so the avatar doesn't cover it.
3. Pick a background. Choose a gradient, a solid colour, or upload your own photo with a darkening overlay.
4. Download. Export and set it as your header in X profile settings.

Mind the avatar overlap

Your profile picture sits over the lower-left of the header, and on some screens the bottom edge is cropped. Keep logos and important words in the top two-thirds and away from the lower-left corner.
