Make a GIF play backwards

Reversing a GIF flips the order of its frames so the action runs in reverse — a satisfying rewind, a loop that bounces, or just a fun effect. This tool reverses the whole sequence and builds a new animated GIF.

The frame timing is preserved, only the order changes. Pair a reverse with the speed tool for a slow-motion rewind, or use it to make a clean ping-pong loop.

How to reverse a GIF

  1. Open your GIF. Drag it onto the tool, or choose a file.
  2. Choose Reverse. Pick the Reverse action — the frame order will be flipped.
  3. Make & download. Click Apply & make GIF to download the reversed GIF.

Make a ping-pong loop

For a loop that plays forward then backward, export a reversed copy and a normal copy, then combine the two sequences in the Make tab — the result bounces seamlessly.

Perguntas frequentes

Does reversing change the speed?

No. Only the frame order is flipped; the timing of each frame stays the same. Use the speed tool if you also want to slow it down.

Does the GIF stay animated?

Yes — reversing produces a new animated GIF that plays backwards.

Can I make it bounce?

Yes. Combine a normal and a reversed copy in the Make tab to create a forward-then-backward ping-pong loop.

Where is my image processed?

The GIF is built in your browser, so the new file is created on your own device. How any data associated with the tool is handled is described in our privacy policy.
