Cut the edges off a GIF

Sometimes a GIF has dead space around the subject, a black border, or a watermark in the corner. Cropping removes it. This tool trims the same region from every frame and re-encodes a tighter animated GIF.

Set how much to cut from the left, top, right, and bottom as a percentage, and the preview shows the result. The frame timing and loop carry over unchanged.

How to crop a GIF

  1. Open your GIF. Drag it onto the tool, or choose a file.
  2. Trim the edges. Drag the left, top, right, and bottom sliders to cut away what you don't need.
  3. Make & download. Click Apply & make GIF to download the cropped, still-animated GIF.

Crop to a square for social

Many feeds prefer a square. Trim the longer sides by equal amounts until the width and height match, then download — your GIF will sit neatly in a 1:1 frame.
