Turn a video clip into a GIF

GIFs are perfect for short, silent, looping moments pulled from a video — a reaction, a highlight, a quick how-to. This converter lets you pick a start point and duration, set the frame rate and width, and render a clean GIF using a high-quality palette.

The video is processed in your browser with a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg. It loads the first time you convert (then it's cached), and the video itself is read locally on your device. Keep clips short — a few seconds — for a reasonable GIF size.

How to convert a video to a GIF

1. Choose your video. Open the Video tab and pick an MP4, WebM, or MOV.
2. Trim and set quality. Choose a start point and duration, then a frames-per-second and width.
3. Convert & download. Click Video to GIF — the engine loads once, then renders your GIF to download.

Keep the clip short

GIF file size grows fast with length, frame rate, and width. For a shareable GIF, aim for 2–5 seconds, 10–15 fps, and a width around 480px — bump them up only if you need to.
