Why strip GPS from a photo?

Phones geotag photos by default, writing the exact latitude and longitude into the file. Post that photo online and anyone who downloads it can read where it was taken — your home, your child's school, a friend's house. Stripping the GPS tag closes that privacy hole.

This tool first shows you whether a photo is geotagged — and exactly where, on a map — then lets you remove the location (along with the rest of the metadata) by saving a clean copy. You stay in control: see what's there, then decide.

How to strip GPS from a photo

  1. Open your photo. Drag it onto the tool, choose a file, or paste it.
  2. Check the Location tab. If the photo is geotagged, you'll see the coordinates on a map.
  3. Remove and download. On the Remove tab, save a clean copy — the GPS location is gone.

Strip GPS but keep your originals

The clean copy is a new file; your original stays exactly as it was. Share the stripped version online and archive the original somewhere private if you want to keep the location for your own records.

Pertanyaan yang sering diajukan

How do I know if my photo has GPS data?

Open it and check the Location tab. If coordinates are stored, the tool maps them; if not, it tells you there's no location to remove.

Does stripping GPS remove other data too?

Yes. Saving a clean copy re-encodes the image and removes the GPS tag along with all other EXIF and metadata.

Can social media still see my location after this?

Not from the photo file. Most platforms also strip EXIF on upload, but stripping it yourself first guarantees the coordinates are no longer stored inside the file you share.

Where is my image processed?

The metadata is read and removed in your browser, so the clean copy is created on your own device. How any data associated with the tool is handled is described in our privacy policy.
